The Ugandan Communications Commission (UCC) as of 19th March 2018 fixed the maximum domestic voice and SMS interconnection rates for the period 2018-2020. The rates are significantly lower than the previous ones: for voice they will charge UGX 112-voice and UGX 15 for SMS.

In a letter issued to all CEO of the telecom companies in Uganda, the telecom regulator believes that the rates set shall address a number of termination market concerns including; termination rate-cost orientation, ensuring cost recovery in the provision of call termination services, the promotion of fair competition within the telecom market as well as enhancing retail affordability. See the rates below.
The new rates above will take effect by 1st July 2018. The voice rates will reduce by a factor of UGX 10 annually until 2020.
